Who Drank the Most Cabernet and Chardonnay in 2022? A Jordan Winery Chart of U.S. Wine Consumption
With the winter holidays approaching, it’s time to crunch our end-of-year sales numbers. A few years ago, we decided to start sharing this data with our fans. So, in the spirit of fun competition, here’s our latest orchestration of U.S. wine consumption by state, which ranks who drank the most Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon and Jordan Chardonnay in 2022. Past wine consumption reports for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 follow in descending order.
How did your home state do? Did you move up or lanugo in the rankings compared to last year? Texas was the big winner overall this year in most cabernet and chardonnay purchased —they remain in first place, vibration out California, Florida, New Jersey and New York for both wines! Utah impressed us as they jumped up 10 rankings in cabernet consumption. Nice one, Utah! Washington DC moreover made unconfined strides as they rose up 6 and 7 spots on both the cabernet and chardonnay lists this year! Observations on which states had the most significant changes are included in each ranking list, so be sure to see if your home state made a big move.
The figures included are based on total cases sold from January 1-December 14. Thank you for supporting Jordan and triumphal our 50th year-end in 2022. We squint forward to sharing and creating increasingly memories with our fans in our fifth decade! Here’s to a unexceptionable 2023!
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon U.S. Wine Consumption by State 2022
Observations from 2021 to 2022: Texas earned the gold during our golden 50th year-end year. California stepped when up to the second place without falling out of the top three last year. New York landed at #4, vibration out New Jersey at #5. Utah made an impressive jump in 2022, leaping from #25 to #15! Washington D.C. moreover croaky into the top 25, landing at #24, a significant rise from #30 last year. And Pennsylvania unfurled their upward trajectory from the past two years, earning the #26 spot now. Unconfined work wideness the country! We’re looking forward to a fantastic fifth decade of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon.

Observations from 2021 to 2022: Texas moreover earned the top spot for chardonnay in 2022! Year over year, the top five have remained the same with California, Florida, New Jersey and New York earning second, third, fourth and fifth respectively. Illinois climbed up two places to #8, vibration out Georgia and Colorado. The biggest proceeds of the year was Washington, D.C., climbing an impressive seven spots from #34 to #27. Tremendous efforts wideness the country! We can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for all of you chardonnay lovers out there.

Observations from 2020 to 2021: New Jersey swept up in cabernet this year! Vibration out Florida, Texas and California, New Jersey made an impressive jump to first place in most cabernet sauvignon purchased this year. Florida stepped superiority of Texas to take silver as California dropped from first to fourth place. We need to step up, CA! Hawaii impressed us with their jump from #28 to #22 this year. Pennsylvania redeemed themselves without a big waif from 2019 to 2020—they jumped 10 places from #39 in 2020 to #29 in 2021. Nicely done, Pennsylvania! The unconfined news: We have our 50th year-end next year to enjoy Jordan Cabernet all year long.

Observations from 2020 to 2021: California and Florida made a unconfined comeback this year and reclaimed their second and third place crowns from New Jersey and New York. Way to go, sunshine states! Texas held their own this year and kept their first-place title in most chardonnay consumed in 2021. Nevada jumped up from #10 to #7, vibration out Colorado, Georgia and Illinois. The biggest movement in the chardonnay orchestration was Tennessee—moving up 11 places to #16 overall. A fantastic effort, everyone! Let’s see what you got next year.

Observations from 2019 to 2020: California held on to first place whereas Texas and Florida made some impressive moves on the cabernet sauvignon chart. Texas stepped superiority of New York to take second place as Florida surpassed New Jersey and New York to take the statue medal. Massachusetts took the reigns and jumped superiority two spots from 2019, landing in sixth place. Nevada, Michigan, Minnesota slipped a couple spots on the orchestration where we saw impressive gains in Utah, Alabama and Arkansas. Pennsylvania took a deep swoop from #26 in 2019 to #39 in 2020–we saw similar drops in D.C., Hawaii and Oklahoma. Stay strong, we still have the rest of winter to enjoy a nice glass of cabernet sauvignon.

Observations from 2019 to 2020: Texas and New Jersey are the big chardonnay winners this year. Texas and New Jersey both overthrew California’s crown–moving the golden state lanugo from first place all the way lanugo to third. Impressive work, Texas and New Jersey. And here’s to taking when gold in 2021, California! Florida held strong in fourth place where Massachusetts, Georgia, Colorado, Minnesota and South Carolina rose multiple spots on the chart. Nice job! New York, Nevada, Louisiana, Hawaii and North Carolina slipped in their chardonnay rankings. The good news: We’re triumphal our 40th year-end vintage of Jordan Chardonnay in August 2021 and it’ll be a summer sipper you won’t want to miss out on.

Observations from the previous year: The wrestle for runner-up continues, with Texas ousting New York to take when the number 2 spot—which New York took from the Longhorn State in 2018. Nevada and Illinois protract to fight for sixth and seventh place, with Nevada gaining the upper hand this year. Same for Connecticut and Arizona trading the 11th and 12th rankings. Big winners for the year are Tennessee, Utah, Arkansas, Washington and Mississippi, who all jumped several spots in Jordan wine consumption. Virginia, Ohio, Oregon and Washington posted disappointing numbers compared to 2018—each dropped 3-6 spots. Good thing our 40th year-end vintage of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon releases in 2020. It’s definitely one to uncork.

Observations from 2018 to 2019: While there were no changes in the top four, Massachusetts moved up to number five, overtaking New Jersey, and Georgia moved to two spots to number 8, knocking Colorado—John Jordan’s home state—back to number 10. Missouri, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Utah, Arkansas, Indiana, Wyoming, Kansas, New Hampshire, Alaska and Vermont moreover rose multiple spots on the chart. Thank you! Chardonnay lovers in Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Minnesota, Alabama, Oregon, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Delaware need to start drinking; your states slipped in the ranking with Alabama and Oregon both dropping seven spots.
